Day Two: Are We ‘Fit For The Future’?
below indicates a link to speaker presentations available to download.
Day Two began by challenging the delegates to consider if entrepreneurship education across the globe is fully contributing to the economic, social and community challenges we all face – government, business, educators, students and graduates. Are our offerings and delivery in education meeting key stakeholder needs and expectations? A debate stimulated by audience interaction followed presentations from the USA, the EU and the UK:
- USA – Experiences from the Kauffman Campus Initiative
- EU – Best Practice Report from the Expert Group for Entrepreneurship Education/Survey of Higher Education across Europe
- UK – Report on the ‘Developing Entrepreneurial Graduates’ Project
During the day the Conference showcased new and innovative techniques, methods and approaches to the delivery and embedding of enterprise and entrepreneurship education. These sessions were primarily about sharing experiences and learning from each other. They were active and inclusive to provide maximum opportunity for the cross-fertilisation of ideas.
Finally a panel Q&A explored the views of users and stakeholders with regard to how we need to shape the entrepreneurship education landscape:
- Microsoft Software Entrepreneurship Curriculum
- Graduate Internet Entrepreneurship
- Challenges for further education and higher education.
Key Questions for Day Two to address:
- Are we really ‘fit for the future’? What challenges do we need to address?
- How do we deliver valued outcomes to our stakeholders: students, graduates, institutions, entrepreneurs, employers, Government?
- What approaches and ideas are innovative and interesting? How can we learn from these and adapt them to our own environments?
